Nowell House Library Rules
In our final year at Giggleswick, Yidon and I were the Nowell House Librarians. Initially we just hoped to make the library a bit more friendly and useful to our fellow Nowellites. However, always relishing a challenge, we had soon transformed the Library into an indispensable, world-renowned resource. Indeed we even had one person who came all the way from Shute to borrow a volume.
Ideal Home Essay
Ah, yes - such is the joy of every sixth former at Gigglewick when he realises that it is compulsory to attend general studies lessons. Even if it is not included in your university offers and the time could be much better spent revising for the exams that really matter. Even when... No I won't continue. It wil only end in me saying very nasty, but completely justified things, about some of my less favourite teachers. Anyway, where was I? This is was an essay I did for the science portion of general studies. The teacher was Mr Perkins. I don't mind mentioning him because he was really cool. That's what I thought. I'm not sure he reciprocated, but never mind. For this essay we were supposed to write about what factors architects and builders should take into account when designing "energy-efficient" homes.
My Assessment Of Huddy's Lights
This one is a bit bizarre, and I still don't really understand it. A fellow Nowellite, James Hudson, had made a modular lighting system for his A-Level Design Project. He was supposed to get someone who knows about lighting to write an independent assessment of his project. He chose me. I just about know how to change a bayonet light bulb, but that is the limit of my lighting experience. Despite me explaining all this to Huddy, he still wanted me to write the assessment. So I did. He even took me out of prep one evening to go up to the Design centre so I could see his lights in action and give my report some verisimilitude. I am not sure how big a part I played, but he did get a grade A in the end.
Woolsey's Heartrate
This is an Excel 97 file. It is data and a graph. It shows how the resting heartrate of Chris Woolsey varied between Feb 1st and Mar 16th 1997. It is a bit more meaningful if you have the calendar of cross country events in which he competed last year. If you don't, then it might still be of some interest. Actually, now I think about it, it is probably very dull even if you have the calendar and attended all the events. I suppose I should say that on every occasion we raced, at any distance, I never beat him.
The Chronicle Reports
Under 14s Rounders Report
This is a slightly embellished report of the U14s rounders season. Despite my name being on it, I had no part in writing this. It contains some extremely bad language and, for some unknown reason, was not printed in The Giggleswick Chronicle.
The Leavers' Report
This is a slightly idiosyncratic report that I wrote for the Chronicle that was published - in an edited form. This is the original version that I submitted to the editorial committee. It is interesting to note that the committee were all Lower 6th and hence not "leavers". This explains why they did not edit the report more than they did.
